Om Pranav Mantra
what is Pranav Manthra
Among all mantras the Om Pranav Mantra is considered as the most important.
This is a monosyllabic Mantra. It is considered that the universe began with the sound Om or Aum.
The sound is termed as Brahmanada.
The Rishis realized the ultimate reality of the sound and started all other Mantras with this sound. The omkara is called Om Pranav Mantra.
If you ask a question, what is Pranav Manthra, Pranav means something that pervades life or runs through prana or breath.
Just as the body depends on prana for survival, the world depends on the sun for its existence. Therefore, It is the practice to worship both these through the power of Om.
It is considered that there are three stages of the mind - waking, dreaming and deep-sleep. The recitation of the Pranava mantra is said to purify mind speech and action and thus bringing peace and enlightenment to all.
In all religious activities and ceremonies as also Yajna's performed for humanity's welfare, the recitation of the Omkar mantra will be seen invariably.
It is a one-syllable mantra but has tremendous power. By using it in meditation to attain inner harmony and dharma, dhyana and Samadhi many aspirants have reached the state of Self Realization.
Om brings the light of knowledge on the aspirant's path of realization.
It is said that only those Rishis which had conquered their senses had the right to use the Omkara mantra for the general good. Omkar is therefore a symbol of Parabrahim.
