Ayus means life and Veda means knowledge, which together means "science of life". As one of the popular and traditional healing systems, Ayurveda is believed to be practiced in India and world over. Kizhi In this procedure herbal leaf, herbs or herbal powders are applied to your whole body in boluses with hot medicated oils. This treatment is effective for all types of arthritis, spondilosis, sports injuries etc. In this treatment, a cloth pouch filled with medicine, which is heated in boiled oil is applied on the body. Kizhi is especially useful in swells, for the treatment of rheumatism, back pain, etc. The name of the Kizhi is in accordance with the medicines used in it including Navarakkizhi, Elakkizhi, Podikkizhi, Manhakkizhi, etc. Basti Sesame or herbal oil is used by us in this treatment, which is kept on the effected area for 15 to 20 minutes. This treatment is especially helpful in Vata and Pitta disorders. The Basti is of the following types : Netra basti: This treatment is especially beneficial for the eyes, for the treatment of conjunctivitis, burning sensation, vision problems, glaucoma. This treatment enhances the beauty of the eye. Hrid basti: This treatment is useful for our heart. The essential and herbal oils used in this treatment helps in strengthening the heart muscle, and in increasing their strength and vitality at a very essential level. Kati basti: This treatment is specially useful for chronic back pain, lower back spasms, degenerative Spondilosis and nerve pains. It is amazingly beneficial for relaxing the body. Shirodhara This treatment is done with the help of herbal oils, medicated milk or buttermilk. This mixture is poured in the form of stream on the forehead for 30 to 45 minutes followed by gentle scalp massage. Shirodhara treatment is effective for balancing the Vata dosha and it works on cerebral system, for relaxing the nervous system and balancing the Prana vayu around the head. Moreover this treatment helps in improving the function of five senses, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and depression, hair loss and fatigue, making you calm and fresh. The complete treatment involves light face massage, light head & neck massage and drainage.
