Ayurvedic Treatments

Ayurveda' is a Sanskrit word, formed by combining two words- Ayus and Veda. Ayus means life and Veda means knowledge, which together means "science of life".

As one of the popular and traditional healing systems, Ayurveda is believed to be practiced in India and world over. Ayurveda was explored, over 5000 years back, by sages and seers for the well being of humanity. It is also known as the mother of all healing systems and is considered to be the original source of many modern natural healing therapies. At our resort, you will experience complete rejuvenation by undergoing varying Ayurvedic treatments.
Swedan
In this treatment, the body is made to undergo sudation or sweating by exposure to steam. At our resort, several herbs are also added to steam the body, for the elimination of several toxins and improvements in arthritis. This treatment is either done on specific body part or on the full body, depending upon the special demand or the nature of the body type.

Njavarakizhi (Pottali)
During this treatment, your whole body or any specific part is applied with boluses tied up in muslin bag containing herbal leaf, herbs or herbal powders or cooked medicated rice. This treatment is effective for all types of arthritis, spondilytis, sports injuries, rheumatism, joint pains, emaciation of limbs, blood pressure, cholesterol and certain kinds of skin diseases.


Dhara
In our resort, the essential oils, medicated milk or medicated buttermilk is poured on your forehead, by using a special technique. This treatment is very beneficial for giving you relief from insomnia, vata predominant diseases, mental tension and certain skin diseases.

In this treatment, warm medicated oil is poured on different parts of the body and head using a particular equipment. Dhara, is divided into three in accordance with the part of the body where the treatment is done.
Moordhania Dhara: This treatment is especially done for curing diseases of head, eye, nose, ear and face and also for some particular types of rheumatism.
Sarvanga Dhara : This treatment provides relief from body ache, sprain etc. and it is also done for body rejuvenation.
Ekanga Dhara :This treatment is performed on particular parts of the body for body aches, sprains etc.

Snehapanam
This is a special type of treatment in which the person is given the medicated ghee for few days, approximately 8 to 12 days. This is also a preliminary process for Vaman, Virechana and Vasti. This treatment is for osteo-arthritis, skin diseases etc.


Sirovastho
Specially prepared herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head for about 15 to 60 minutes per day. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of mouth, nostrils and throat, severe headaches, burning sensation of the head and other Vata-oriented diseases. This treatment goes on for a period of 7 days.


Kizhi
In this procedure herbal leaf, herbs or herbal powders are applied to your whole body in boluses with hot medicated oils. This treatment is effective for all types of arthritis, spondilosis, sports injuries etc.

In this treatment, a cloth pouch filled with medicine, which is heated in boiled oil is applied on the body. Kizhi is especially useful in swells, for the treatment of rheumatism, back pain, etc. The name of the Kizhi is in accordance with the medicines used in it including Navarakkizhi, Elakkizhi, Podikkizhi, Manhakkizhi, etc.

Shirodhara
This treatment is done with the help of herbal oils, medicated milk or buttermilk. This mixture is poured in the form of stream on the forehead for 30 to 45 minutes followed by gentle scalp massage. Shirodhara treatment is effective for balancing the Vata dosha and it works on cerebral system, for relaxing the nervous system and balancing the Prana vayu around the head.

Moreover this treatment helps in improving the function of five senses, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and depression, hair loss and fatigue, making you calm and fresh. The complete treatment involves light face massage, light head & neck massage and drainage.
